Hack Mod or Bad Computer
I know the computer I am playing on is probably minimal for WoT as is my ISP, but normally by playing with minimum graphics (used to play at higher graphic rating until the HD tank patch) I dont have too many issues. I just stop playing when my ping gets over 400ms and I start running into walls, off cliffs, etc. Then this morning...
I was in random battle in my T25/2 (which sucks as a stock vehicle) on the Kursk map (I now have a favorite map). I like the area featured in the intro to Kursk video, the SE corner. A fast tank from my team had rushed into the area and was trying to hide in the debris on the east side of the circular clearing; he wasn't doing a great job and was already at 40% by the time I got there. Otherwise I was alone... A Hellcat and a T150 were poking about rubble on the west side, I was coming from the north. My teammate was blown up within seconds of my arival. My ping was good for me (about 80-120ms) with very few red dashes.
The T150 seemed very normal but the Hellcat (which I figured I should take out first) did not. My first shot, I was aiming for the M10 but his tank was moving side to side in vibration type pattern; I aimed for the center of the vibrations and hit him weakly. The T150 hit me weakly and the M10 ****** my teammate. Pause for reload. Round 2: I pulled up and again tried to aim at the M10. Just as I was about to fire, his tank (which was partially blocked on the lower rear by rubble) blinked back behind the rubble, blinked forward to way outside the rubble, then blinked back to withdrawaling after getting a clean hit on me all within about a second and a half. Even if I was lagging, he couldn't have moved as much as his blinking allowed him to. I fired at the T150 out of desparation, getting a weak hit and withdrew for round 3; they were both in the low 80% health whilst I was mezmerized and at 25% health. Then the final insult...
I figured that I couldn't duke it out against phase tanks so I would call for help and play defensively. I saw the Hellcat moving toward my position on the minimap and knew he could outrun me. The T150 was slower so if I could get a good hit in on the Hellcat, I could maybe save my skin. I anticipated a bit of lag and aimed a bit to the left of the rubble pile. Then the Hellcat appeared.... already completely past my gun aiming point. I never got the shot off even though I saw his point on the minimap the whole way to me. My team was already losing but I continued to watch this guy. He racked up 4 more kills and never took any more damage.
Two things that struck me as curious: the T150 didn't blink around as the Hellcat did and he never took any more damage after my first weak hit. Is there a hack that disrupts the the game's determination of your position? Or was my computer just on the fritz?
