Clickers, Seal Clubbers and the lot...
So, I need a break from the current On Track, it's a punishment. Read some posts, reread some guides and started thinking...
Arty is still a problem in the game. If you can't see it, your logically challenged. If you go so far as to defend it, your intellectually and morally challenged. If you question both sides of it, your brilliant. (If you can't make the leap to understand what I just wrote, stop reading now, go back to playing tanks). Arty in game is like saying the Seahawks defense should only play with 8 on the field. It's like giving the Phlyers goalie a net that is only 3 by 5 to defend (or letting the Habs have 8 players on the ice). It's like giving Phil Mikleson a eight inch cup to putt at. No one would say any of those are fair.
You make the rules the same for everyone that competes or your not really competing are you. When you start to make exceptions, everyone involved can see the sham of it. Arty is a stupid balancing metric to keep the underachievers from facing their failure so that they stay interested and keep pouring money into the WG vaults like rats hitting the feeding bar.
Unless, your not playing arty for fun. I loathe clickers. Not everyone who plays arty is a clicker however. If your intentionally using a game breaking metric to point out it's problems, then I applaud you. If you are attempting to make the problem so much worse that WG has to respond, I respect your level of responsibility. If you continue to play arty, though you loathe it, for the greater good, I salute you. If your playing arty for any other reason, your a griefer/cyber bully. All of the social/psychological stigmata that go along with those labels apply to you. I don't hate you for it, I do hope you grow out of it at some point. Life's too short to be so bitter all the time that you can only find enjoyment from abusing a broken RNG controlled metric to make yourself feel better.
What if you fled to arty as a last resort against....Seal Clubbers. Harder to make the distinction now that you are a griefer huh? So what is a Seal Clubber? Is it just number of games played in a specific tank? If I had 6,254 games in an AMX40 would I be a Seal Clubber? Is it games in tanks considered OP? If I had 3,481 games in a T18 and 32% win percentage, would I be a Seal Clubber? If I had 1,753 games in a E50 with a WN8 of 12,632 would I be a seal clubber each and every time I played it? If three purples platoon T62A's and only spam gold are they Seal Clubbing? Seems Seal Clubbing is defined situationally, even tho we may feel there are 'trends'. Some players of course make it obvious. If you can't figure out how to look at somebodies stats and decide they are a seal clubber, that's right, back to tanks, see ya.
So really, why don't we see more poasts/responses involving the relationship between clickers and Seal Clubbers? Why am I bringing that up? Do I need some kind of ego prop that posting this will fulfill? Hope not, hope it's perceived that my point is to think things through. Knee jerk reactions just make you look less than intelligent and garner responses on the same level. Those who triumph 'REMOVE_ARTY_FROM_THE_GAME' are pretty short sighted.
Every class needs a counter. In theory, arty is supposed to counter camping heavies. In practice it is just a griefing tool. If arty were removed, heavies would rule the game. The argument that TD's can fulfill that role is lame in the extreme. Every single one of you that thinks/says that will also say that your 4 perk pimped out heavy will delete some noob in his same tiered stock TD face to face. Can't have it both ways, either you are that good and there needs to be a counter to you or you **** and are always lucky. That's what your stats say right? That your always lucky?
Think it through, we need arty. It needs to be fixed tho. It needs to not be the tool of the cyber bully/griefer. It needs to have the players skill more reflective in it's capabilities. If I get deleted in my E75 by a player in a T-44 whose stats are twice what mine are in every category (that's most of you), that is reflective of his/her skill versus mine. Arty should be the same way. Yes, there will always be some amount of RNG involved, isn't it beautiful to see an enemy KV-2 get ammo rack detonated? Hard to believe that huge turret can soar like that. How often have you really seen it? How often do you get wrecked by arty? Is it more or less often than seeing that flying KV2 turret? Shouldn't it be about the same? Wouldn't it then be more indicative of player skill than Vegas dice? Wish I had moar skill, I always aim for ammo rack on KV2's in the hope of seeing the show. Usually it just means me getting deleting for taking too long to try to make the perfect shot.
So you can argue that arty use is the result of the Seal Clubber, and many clickers will because they are incapable of facing the truth, but can you argue any usefulness in Seal Clubbing? Are low tiered Seal Clubbers preventing the community from getting any larger? Possibly, how to prove tho? Conduct an exit interview with everyone who tries then quits the game? Oh you like that idea? Good, it just became your responsibility, get to work. Does Seal Clubbing prevent people from certain game modes? Dunno, how's historical battles doing? You don't say. Why was that you suppose? I never would have guessed.
Here's another idea to chew on. Those 'players' who give up at the beginning of the match because they only have a 48% chance to win, is it because they have been over abused by Seal Clubbers? What straw breaks the camels back? Are they just losers in all this life has to offer and quit anything at the first sign of resistance or could they be as patient as concrete but finally had enough? Am I saying their behavior is ok? HELL NO! that's pure crapolla. But that would be me making a judgement and my whole point here was to try to make you think. Ever hear of the meta game? Hmmm, maybe you should try to think about the larger picture sometimes and how it all inter relates.
TLDR, then you wouldn't have understood, get back in your LoLtractor.
P.S. No I am not editing it, no I am not proof reading it. If I expressed one side of an opinion, it still was in the hopes that you would think about both sides of it. I just sat down with a drink and started typing till I felt like re-furling the white flag on those damned French heavies and getting back to the On Track. Make your opinions known below. Personal attacks are welcomed and will be laughed at. Besides which that means you didn't get it or I am a terrible poaster (which is probable).
See you on the battlefield (I'll be the French Heavy hiding behind arty).
