Some thoughts on in-game Camo schemes
While it isn't their #1 priority right now, I feel like the options for in-game camo could use some work. I know some guys don't really care about how it actually looks, but I originally came to the game because I loved tank history and especially some of the unique and aesthetically pleasing schemes that have been used over the years. The current in-game patterns in most cases roughly mimic some of the legitimate schemes that were used in the WOT time period, but there are some glaring omissions as well as some obvious openings to really improve the quality for those of us that actually enjoy looking at our tanks. At the very least, WG ought to implement a basic "Sand" color for all nations under the Desert options. Many of the tanks we drive in WOT fought in desert conflicts using basic tan or sand colored schemes instead of multicolor patterns.
Germans Overall, WG have managed to represent a number of the common schemes represented for German tanks, however there are a few notable omissions. The first obvious omission from the German lineup is an overall Gelbbraun (yellow brown) option for the Desert. This would represent the Afrika Korps tanks for maps like El Halluf, Airfield, and Sand River. Especially when you have historical battles or events recognizing El Alamein and Tobruk, I'd figure having a simple Gelbbraun available would be an easy fix. Example Example. An additional opportunity they have missed is introducing a desert scheme representing Tiger 131, a tank they have used WOT to raise money for Example. Beyond that, it would be nice to have at least 1 Cold War or NATO scheme available for tanks like the Indien, Leo Prot, Leo 1, and upcoming Spähpanzer. It would also be nice for the later tanks like the Panther, Panther II, Tiger II, E75, etc to not come in Panzergrau, but instead at least have a base Dunkelgelb (dark yellow) since by that time tanks were rolling out of the factory in Dunkelgelb, not Panzergrau. All they need to do is change the base skin's color for the 1943+ tanks.
British Let's be honest, with Chieftain coming and Centurion in game, we need these as a standard Brit scheme for Summer:Berlin Brigade More Moar MOAR! After that, I think the Brits could use the 2-color green/dark green here.
Are there any other obvious schemes I'm missing? I was going to propose a standard NATO tricolor scheme for the US, Germany, France, and Britain but I don't think NATO adopted that until the 80's. What are some Warsaw Pact schemes that could be added for USSR and China? What are some of your favorite schemes you'd want to see in WOT?
