Feeling squeezed out
Here's my quandary. I enjoy the game when all the combatants are relatively capable and engaged. When I see that most tankers on both teams are close to or above my modest win rate of 49% and they all have at least a few thousand battles under their belts, and MM gives us fairly well matched teams, I love the game. It is so much fun. And that is where I can see some progress in my learning the game and skill level.
But as you are all well aware, this rarely happens.
When I play my tier 7 tanks (or thereabouts), there tends to be somewhat fewer tomatos and noobs, and if MM does an okay job of match making, I'll see the a few decent and reasonably even and competitive games. The problem with this tier level game, though, is that since I don't have a premium account, I usually lose credits on every lost battle, and gain only small amounts of credits when the game is won. It's more fun but less rewarding credit-wise. And if mm goes against you, you mostly lose credits.
But when I play any tank lower than a tier 7 (or thereabouts), the field is now usually full of tomatos and noobs, and the game usually ends up being the equivalent of a Three Stooges short film and one side gets randomly and mercilessly pummelled and rolled over and quickly derped all to hell. And when I die early and follow along with any surviving tomatos, it invariably leads to a frustrating session of disbelief and serial face palming.
And it's been getting progressively worse. More and more tomatoes in higher and higher tiers. There is no longer a sweet spot where you can get some decently played battles and still get ahead credit-wise.
I know I'm not the best of the best by far, but how can you improve if you are either 1) so much at the whim of mm and teams full of tomatos or 2) playing at a higher level that ends up costing you credits.
And no, I can't afford a premium account. And I guess that's the bottom line here. They want my money which I don't have. So maybe I should just be happy with the enjoyment I've gotten out of the game so far and just uninstall and be done with it. But it's kind of like golf. When you do get that one great game in, you really want to do it again despite the long odds against it happening.
