The current demise of Heavies.
inb4 100+ Neg Rep Storm.
So over the past couple months, I've been noticing a bit pattern. Here are a few games I've extracted after perusing through my screenshots folder.
Game 1:
Game 2:
Game 3:
Game 4:
Game 1: Left side won : Right side Loss
Game 2: Left side won : Right side Loss
Game 3: Left side Loss: Right side Won
Game 4: Left Side Loss: Right side Won
Now besides the first one, these are pictures from some of my worst games. But I've noticed that TDs and auto loaders tend to dominate the top of the damage charts, where as a heavy: IS-7, E-100, Maus, FV 215 B, etc. the ones that actually do have armor, don't tend to get much damage in at all. What has been a recurring theme is autloaders, TDs, and an occasional medium, tend to be the most influential in the end game. Now over the years in this game, heavies are becoming less and less effective. With some tier 10 TDs having pens with just the standard shells alone being 280+, you can even buy premium shells with credits now. Armor in this game has become almost a total joke, since most players always bring a set of premium rounds in-case of a pesky heavy shows up with his high armor value.
Pretty much is what I've noticed is, Heavies have taken the rolls of a slow, high HP scout. Sitting there spotting for a TD or some other tank sitting in the back beyond the view range farming the damage. I honestly don't remember the last time a heavy was hard to play against. Load gold, aim for the weakspots, shoot, back up, repeat until heavy is dead, and you're good to go. Hell, even last game I saw an E-100 and was happy that there was all that HP for me to take from him so I can get more credits. This game isn't even a matter of, how can I make my shell pen their armor, since you can buy premium rounds to easily pen the certain spot, but a game of, how can I get the most damage? It's becoming more and more simple.
Now, I know this seems like a very small sample size, but I'm actually going to start a study on how well heavies perform in-game at tier 10s. If you have a counter example that will blow this whole thing wide open, please post. Because I don't know if I'm just crazy or heavies are just becoming less and less effective.
