Mod Idea: Link the in-game complaints menu to a public database of infractions
As we all know, the in-game complaint system doesn't really do anything. I say we change that.
I posted earlier about creating a public infractions database, but for various reasons it was not well-received due to the way it would work - players would have to manually upload replays to make a report.
Instead, how about a real-time link between the in-game complaint menu and a public complaint database / wall of shame? The primary purpose (other than epic lulz) would be to collect data on players which repeatedly commit offenses such as team-killing, revealing allied positions, etc. Secondary objectives might include things like XVM integration and perhaps even collaborating with WG to improve detection of problematic players.
There would be two components to making this work:
- a website/backend to receive and store the complaints (along with supporting data such as reporter's username, offender's username, their respective tanks, and the map name).
- a client-side mod to transmit complaints to the aforementioned website
Inherently, uploading replays would not be necessary since all data is provided directly through the game client. Of course, replays could optionally be uploaded after-the-fact to provide direct visual evidence of an infraction.
I've already done a thorough technical analysis of the client-side Python scripts involved in complaint reporting, and as a software developer I am fairly confident that this project could be pulled off within a reasonable amount of time.
Thoughts?
