The 9.0 patch change to auto-aim sucks
Amid all the CTD problems, and new HD tanks that seem to cause the CTD, I've found the most annoying thing about the new patch is the change to autoaim. Before it would lock center mass on a target - now, it tries to aim for about 1/4 the height of the tank.
I used to use autoaim pretty often in certain situations - if I was moving at high speeds I would lock on and take a snapshot (hit a ton of snapshots at full speed in my A-44.. that tank uses the force to guide the snapshots), not really caring if it penned or even hit since it was such a low percentage shot. I'd also use it for quick peekabooming when I was a medium up against another medium or heavy and didn't want to expose myself long enough to aim. Also useful for when you are circling a heavy or TD in a medium/light tank where you are focusing more on staying out of the line of fire and not crashing into things than aiming at weakspots. It was also good for adjust to terrain differences while aiming.
Since the change, half the autoaim shots I take hit the ground. If a tank is behind even a little bit of the crest of a hill, it hits the hill. The other half of the autoaim shots I take when I can see the entire enemy tank, 2/3 of these shots that used to do damage just end up tracking the enemy and doing no damage. This sucks when you're trying to stay alive while circling a T34 in an Object 416, where every shot counts.
Would be nice if WG allowed you to set the location of the autoaim in the settings.
