[Mod Post] Clan Tag Flair, Live Stream links, & Subreddiquette
Ladies, Gents, and Genderfluid Demi pansexuals,
We'd like to brush up on a few items of importance that keep coming up either in public or through moderator mail. Feel free to post questions or concerns below.
CLAN TAG FLAIR
Everyone should be aware that you can assign a clan tag and logo of your choosing from the side bar on the right-hand side (if using a browser). Because of the vast number of clans from all servers, the clan tag flair choices have always been limited to the top 30 or so clans from NA and a limited number of top clans from RU/EU/SEA due to low representation on the subreddit. Top clans are based on wotcs.com rankings. Additionally, if a clan is not in the top 50 but has several (>5) members who post regularly here, an exception will be made.
Updating the subreddit stylesheet for flairs only occurs every couple months. The effort required updating the stylesheet is such that we don't do it for individual requests. We tend to wait until there are enough flair requests to make the time worth it.
An "Updating Clan Flair" post a week or so before we actually do the update will be made for people to request their clan to be added or updated. This way new clan icon images and flair requests can be gathered before the deadline. Please save all flair requests for these threads.
LIVE STREAM LINKS
On the right-hand sidebar there are also Live Stream links to various WoT personalities, unicums, and generally entertaining players. We have selected these streams to be linked from the subreddit because these players meet certain criteria or expectations. As we are receiving "Stream link" requests more frequently, I'll outline some of our minimum streaming requirements that we look for:
- >62% WR, either 60 day or overall
- >2300 WN8, either 60 or overall
- High follower count
- Tier X tanks
- Internet Tanks famous
- Clan leader of a major clan
- Noteworthy contributor to WoT
Not all of these requirements are mutually exclusive. We also reserve the final decision based upon our own judgement. We will however sticky post Streams for such things as charity events or fundraisers (provided there is adequate verification).
Why the restrictions? We have limit space on the sidebar and have filled it up several times when we have a lot of streamers going. We would love to link every stream, but it is just not technically possible.
SUBREDDIQUETTE REMINDER
There has been an increasingly disturbing trend of hostility, downvoting and general rudeness to new and old members of this subreddit who post legitimate questions. This is not the World of Tanks forums - we generally like to maintain this subreddit as a place that anyone may ask a question and have it answered, no matter how noobish it is. Downvoting it because it's just another question goes against reddiquette. I suggest everyone brush up on their reddiquette, paying specific attention to the following:
- Vote. If you think something contributes to conversation, upvote it. If you think it does not contribute to the subreddit it is posted in or is off-topic in a particular community, downvote it. Legitimate questions are on-topic and should not be downvoted.
- Remember the human. When you communicate online, all you see is a computer screen. When talking to someone you might want to ask yourself "Would I say it to the person's face?" or "Would I get jumped if I said this to a buddy?"
- Don't be (intentionally) rude at all. By choosing not to be rude, you increase the overall civility of the community and make it better for all of us.
- Don't follow those who are rabble rousing against another redditor without first investigating both sides of the issue that's being presented. Those who are inciting this type of action often have malicious reasons behind their actions and are, more often than not, a troll. Remember, every time a redditor who's contributed large amounts of effort into assisting the growth of community as a whole is driven away, projects that would benefit the whole easily flounder.
- Don't downvote an otherwise acceptable post because you don't personally like it.
Lastly, refresh yourselves on this subreddit's very simple rules:
- Use reddiquette.
- No direct links to .wotreplay files.
- No selling or trading of in-game bonus codes or gold (including accounts).
- Don't post end of game score cards.
- Recruitment posts are allowed for any clan.
- YouTube/Twitch links require users to have >20 link/comment karma and >20 days old.
- Read the wiki.
- No memes, reaction gifs, rage comics, etc.
- When posting gifs, use Gfycat
