A noob epiphany
Full disclosure - I know I ****, my stats ****, etc. I'm not trying to give advice to veterans, I'm trying to give share an idea with other noobs.
After nearly smashing my mouse after yet another loss in my AMX 40 - I had a revelation last night:
Stop playing tanks that I hate/am not good at just to get that first win of the day.
Because it ends up working like this:
Play T49 - boom - win - move on.
Play KV-1 - boom - win - move on.
Play T1 Heavy - boom - win - move on
Play M4 Sherman - lose. Play again - win - move on.
Play Alecto - lose. Play again - lose. Play again - lose. Play again - lose. Play again - win.
Play AMX 40 - lose. Play again - lose. Play again - lose. Play again - lose. Play again - lose.
Change of pace - Play Crusader - lose. Play again - lose. repeat..
Change of pace - Play DW2 - lose. Play again - lose. repeat...
Go back to AMX 40 - lose.. AUUUUGH!!!
And yes, I know these are awesome tanks, I'm an idiot who just doesn't know how to play them. I recognize that. It still doesn't change the fact that I don't enjoy playing them.
In the end, this strategy is a recipe for intense frustration. I'm spending a lot more time playing and (and often losing) in the tanks I don't like, instead of playing (and often winning) in the tanks I do like.
Why am I doing this to myself????
Well, obviously, because I want the AT-2, the ELC, the Cromwell, the Panther (eventually). But it's not like i'm in a race - I don't have any aspirations to Clan Wars, or even to acquire tier 10 tanks. For me, the fun of WoT is in the journey, not the destination.
So - no more playing the tanks I hate over and over again to get that first win. I'll play them once or twice, and move on, even if I'm leaving XP on the table.
And I will be much happier.
