Top 5 World of Tanks Feel-Good Stories (2013-2014)
The intarwebz, and CR/D in particular, is full of negativity.
But is World of Tanks and everything about it really so terribad?
These 5 World of Tanks Feel-Good Stories is a counterpoint to all the rage that takes place daily in the World of Tanks community.
Starting at the bottom working up to the best feel-good story of 2013-2014, heres #5:
5. Gold Ammo for Credits
As of patch 0.8.1, premium ammo can optionally be purchased for credits.
This was a game changer for many players who could not afford to, or are unwilling to pay real life money to play a video game.
More gold rounds are now flung around battlefields today, but it does make life a bit easier when you are a little light tank fighting a heavily armoured higher tiered monster.
In the end, theres less of a feeling of only wallet warriors can sling gold shells, and more of a sense of I can easily shoot a few gold rounds per game without damaging my virtual currency bank account! Yay!
4. Player Guides for Newbies
The player guide collection just keeps growing and growing. Here are a few of the best ones out there right now. All of these were made or improved upon in 2013 to 2014.
KingAlphyns Noob Friendly Tips: a handy reference for players new to the game.
Lerts Collection of Guides: gameplay mechanics useful for both beginners and vets alike.
The DingBat Anthology: a collection of battle reviews, tactical talks, and common sense threads to help players out.
[Havok] togood's "How to Improve in Wot,Youtube Series*: videos cover a huge variety of WoT topics in lots of detail.
3. World of Tanks Special Tanks Giveaways
At best, a free tank; at worst, a free garage slot. Definitely a bonus for being a WoT fan.
T1E6 - 2013 New Year's Gift
LTP - Wargaming's 15th Anniversary
T7 Combat Car - 2013 Golden Joystick
Props to WG for giving out some free stuff that makes the tedius and monotonous grinding a bit more bearable!
2. The Evolution of the WNx Player Skill Evaluation Project: WN8
WN8 is the latest iteration of the WN8* (WNx) project lead by Praetor77.
It is a great player skill evaluation tool used by clans for recruitment and player development, as well as individual players to use for their own purposes.
It's grown tremendously in the past year: moving away from a focus on defense points, addressing issues with high and low tier tanks, and differentiating the top 25% of players better than ever before.
Latest features include Dmg/tier vs Per-Tank Ratings and Scale Evolution.
In their own words:
WN8 seeks to measure the observable contribution to matches, across an account, and hopefully infers some information about the latent variable "skill".
It is intended to be looked at next to win-rate, battle count, average tier, the inspection of the Service Record, platooning with someone, and watching their replays.
1. The Beginning and Continual Development of WoTManager.com
Chandog and Timroden have made managing clans tremendously easier with their development of WoT Manager.
If you are managing a clan and you are not using this, you need to sign up today!
Features include: Attendance, Gold Income & Payout, Recruiting Utility, Clan & Player Stats, Member Changes, and more!
In their own words:
WoT Manager provides a new level of clan management, organization and functionality to the end user, centered around the core daily attendance tracking module.
WoT Manager offers a large range of extra functionality such as, fund allocation, clan statistics, recruiting utilities, activity statistics, player statistics and special training tracking.
