Heavily armored Brit TD's(AT-2, AT-8, AT-7) arent designed for base camping!
Lately, I'd say at least 1 out of every 8 battles my team has included one or more of the British TD's, either the AT-2, AT-8, AT-7, and the owners of these TD's keep deciding to camp out within 100m of our base. Most of the time when one team has a heavily armored TD like this, so does the other team. If the AT-8 on one team is camping, chances are the other team's AT-8 isnt camping, which means he is likely helping the push from the front. That means he is probably a major factor in the red team's breakthrough, which helps their team beat us!
Just saw it again in a tier VI battle at Hidden Village. I was in T49, and I went left to the town side, allowing the heavier tanks to battle the right side road, while I was sniping across the little river there. I **** an M3 Lee and hit another tank, when I am one-shotted by a KV-1S. At this point our team was starting to get behind already, and our tanks were dropping like flies. It was then that I noticed 3 or 4 tanks sitting back within 50-100m of our base, out in the open there, and I click my mouse to see who was there, and one of them is an AT-8, who is sitting out in the open right in front of the base overlooking our side of the water. There is also a Nashorn and a flak bus, but they sorta have an excuse for being there, although it would have been helpful for them to be supporting the push on the right side road by the hills. Thats where the breakthrough happened. But that breakthrough probably wouldnt have happened had we had the AT-8 and a Nashorn over there helping!
Bottom line is that these AT series British TD's have extremely thick frontal armor that is very difficult for mid tier tanks to penetrate. In fact, lets be honest and say its almost impossible to pen if you are in a tier V or VI tank, unless you are VERY close and you can hit the miniscule copula on top. That means that these AT series TD's are NOT supposed to be used for base camping! They should be up near the front supporting heavy tanks......
