XVM Stat Mod and Pregame Chance To Win
Ever since I first looked up my stats on Noobmeter back when I had just over 1k games played, I have wanted a way to be able to track my stats in-game and compare them to others around me. Ever since first installing xvm, I have noticed some pretty strong trends relating to someone's statistics; be it efficiency, wn7, or wn8, and their opinions regarding xvm and the stat mod specifically.
Players with under 2k battles played tend to know nothing about xvm or have only heard of it. Players with below average and worse statistics tend to hate xvm, and the biggest opponents of it seem to be the players who have bad stats and 10k+ games played, the truly bad players.
As the skill of the player increases, the likeliness of using xvm and the stat mod specifically seems to increase exponentially. I've yet to meet a unicum that doesn't have some sort of stat mod. Either they really like to stroke their ego, or it is truly beneficial for analyzing the team while the game loads in.
Regarding the chance to win percentage, many people don't seem to understand how percentages work. I've heard that xvm stats is bad because it encourages people to just alt tab out or go afk in games with less than 40% win chance and that the percentage means nothing because they've won a game that was 35%. First of all, a 35% chance to win still means you will win 3-4 out of every ten games. Secondly, when most people who use the statistics mod see a low chance to win percentage (<40%, which is still very winnable) they don't give up before the game even starts, they put in more effort to try to turn the tide in their favor.
I realize that this sounds quite ranty, but I'd like to have some kind of discussion on whether or not XVM statistics is useful to have, or if you believe seeing other players statistics (or them seeing yours) is detrimental to the game and how you function as a team.
Edit: After reading through some of the comments, I think it would be useful for me to add this in.
The percentage chance to win suffers from a few notable and unavoidable flaws when dealing with statistics. It simply can't account for all the data that would go into something like putting a point spread on a game of football. To accurately do this, it would also have to take into account a number of other things; the player's individual statistics for their tank, whether the tank is fully upgraded, are they loading standard ammo or spamming gold, are they in a platoon with 2 friends using voice chat... All these are things xvm can't track that impact the game.
In addition to this is simple probability. The percentage puts massive weight behind a player that has much higher stats than the rest of the game. When that played has a bad game, it completely changes the outcome of the game. That is why you can't just rely on a unicum to carry your pub through the game. While they may be better, they have bad games too.
Lastly, you don't know whether the true percentage is correct, because it never gets tested. You don't play 100's of games in a row with the same people in the same tanks on the same teams. It changes every game.
The chance to win is generally only effective at telling you which team has more apples and lemons and which team has more tomatoes and oranges which you can easily see yourself.
